The Bacchus O2 Barrier™ is a new, specially-developed film which substantially reduces the migration of cork taints and oxygen into wine.
O2™ is bonded to the cork using a reactive hot melt adhesive. The cross linking of the polymer chains in this adhesive prevents the film detaching in contact with moisture over time.
It is applied by machinery to both ends of the cork providing a tough, transparent and highly elastic barrier.
WHAT IS THE BACCHUS 02 BARRIER ?
O2™ provides important reductions in the incidence of TCA and other taints, while eliminating flavour modification and premature oxidation. Because the film is slightly permeable to oxygen, no reductive oxidation tastes occur.
02™ flexes as the cork flexes during insertion. The Bacchus Barrier™ strengthens the ends of the corks and improves the sealing of the cork against the bottle sides.
O2™ is inexpensive to apply and adds great value to corks.
