The solution to taint and
premature oxidation

Environment

The combination of Bacchus Barrier™ and cork is recyclable, 99.99% natural and almost completely biodegradable. Bacchus Barrier™ contains no chlorine and is safe in the environment. The presence of Bacchus Barrier™ adds no more to the cork than does the paraffin and silicone with which the corks are treated.

Bacchus Barrier™ allows cork producers to better utilize their cork stocks by improving the quality of all grades of corks. The better utilization of cork resources means that the quality will improve generally, increasing cork’s ability to resist substitution by alternative synthetic closures and screw caps.

With consumers becoming increasingly environmentally concerned, they will be reassured by having the choice of using a natural product from a sustainable resource.

An important beneficiary will be the cork forests and the environment in the sensitive cork growing regions of the world.

nanocork™ has a carbon footprint very close to that of natural cork: the additional material in the Bacchus Barrier™ represents less than 0.04% of the total mass of the cork.

Natural cork has a carbon footprint at least 8 times smaller than that of screwcaps*
