Bacchus Wine Closures Ltd was founded by a group of Australian winemakers and European technologists to exploit a new breakthrough in the fight against TCA contamination and premature oxidation.
While the idea of putting barriers onto natural corks to reduce
the passage of taints and oxygen into wine from natural cork
has been known for many decades, it has only been with the
development of new materials that a really effective solution
has become available.
Bacchus developed and patented the O2 Barrier™ in
conjunction with major wineries and cork producers, and
have perfected the machinery required for automatically
applying it to corks in volume production.
Bacchus currently has offices in the UK and Portugal.
